The third annual Wildlands Adventure Challenge will take place on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, 2020. As of mid-September, the race is fully permitted and is scheduled to take place, assuming COVID-19 cases in Maine remain low. A number of safety measures will be put in place to ensure a safe event that involves social distancing. We recently opened the race to both Saturday and Sunday to accommodate more racers and reduce overall racer numbers per event.
The 8-Hour race will take racers on a curated adventure by foot, bike, and kayak through the diverse terrain in the Great Pond Mountain Wildlands.
A beginners' race will give those new to adventure racing a fun yet gentle introduction to the sport. The beginners' race will last between one and three hours and will include hiking and paddling in provided boats.
The race is hosted by the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust and proceeds from the race will benefit the trust. The course will be designed by the members of Strong Machine Adventure Racing, a nationally ranked adventure race team based in Portland, Maine and the organizers of the Maine Summer Adventure Race.
